Two children seriously injured in Hartlepool car crash

Two children have been seriously injured in a crash in Hartlepool.

They were in a car which crashed on the A689 Belle Vue Way, opposite Extreme Fitness, on Wednesday afternoon.

The girl aged five, and boy aged 10, were taken to James Cook University Hospital. A 29-year-old Hartlepool woman, who was driving, was also hurt.

The girl is said to be in a "critical but stable" condition. The boy, who suffered a head injury and internal injuries is described as "stable".

The A689 between the Burn Road roundabout and the B1277 roundabout was closed for about four hours.
