Tributes have been paid to a woman who was killed by a van while she was walking her dog in Bishop Auckland.

Carol Robson, 58, died after being struck by a van in Longfield Road, on the South Church Industrial Estate, at 07:30 GMT on Monday.

Her family said she was a much-loved grandmother, mother and sister.

The 52-year-old male driver of the van was uninjured and Durham Police are appealing for witnesses.

In a statement, her family said Ms Robson, from South Church, was devoted to her family, adding: "She was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew her."
