Man charged with wounding over Newton Aycliffe stabbing

A man has been charged following a stabbing in County Durham.

The victim, a 32-year-old man, suffered stomach injuries on Friday when he was attacked with what police believe was a kitchen knife.

It happened next to Reeth Place in Newton Aycliffe at about 18:30 BST.

A 48-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article. He is expected to appear in court on Monday.

The victim underwent surgery at Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital.
