Second arrest in A66 South Bank van shooting

A second man has been arrested in an attempted murder inquiry in Teesside.

Police believe a van, which overturned on the A66 near South Bank last Friday, was targeted in a gun attack following a suspected high-speed pursuit.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder on Wednesday. He was later bailed.

Another man, aged 23, has been arrested and is being questioned by police. Two people, one possibly injured, were seen leaving the van before police arrived.

There was extensive damage to the van, which police think was caused by a firearm.

Officers said the attack could have been linked to two house fires in Redcar that happened around the same time.
