A suspicious package found at a house in Middlesbrough has been declared safe by bomb disposal experts.

Police put up a cordon around the address in St George's Road, Grangetown, just before 10:00 GMT and neighbouring homes were evacuated.

Explosives experts from Catterick attended the scene, and residents have now been allowed to return.

Cleveland Police said inquiries into the nature of the item and how it came to be at the address were continuing.
