Public vote will decide local grants in County Durham

About £30,000 is to be invested in local community groups across Teesside and County Durham.

Teesdale Area Action Partnership is offering local groups the chance to apply for grants of between £1,000 and £5,000.

Eligible applications will be showcased at an event in Barnard Castle in November and put before a public vote.

Craig Morgan, from the partnership, said: "Local people will vote on which project should get the money."

He added: "Events like this have attracted several hundred people along, so it's not only a chance to get the money, it's a chance to promote what you're doing and get people involved."

The deadline for applications is 13 September.
