Lorry-damaged A688 Spennymoor bridge shuts for tests

A bridge that was hit by a lorry is being closed while structural engineers assess whether it is safe.

Durham County Council workers will carry out tests on the A688 Rock Road Bridge, in Spennymoor, County Durham, following the crash last month.

Motorists are warned diversions will be in place between 19:00 on Saturday and 07:00 BST on Sunday.

Brian Buckley, strategic highways manager, apologised to motorists for any inconvenience.
