Billingham town centre revamp enters new phase

Buildings are to be given a facelift and new lighting and CCTV cameras installed as part of the revamp of a town centre in Teesside.

More than £2m is being spent on the next phase of regenerating Billingham, which will also include repairing brickwork in the town square.

Stockton Council and town owners Stockland, are spending a total of £25m on the project.

Next year work will begin to demolish the old town square toilets.

The town's bandstand will also get a new canopy and the town centre will be re-paved and get new seats.
