Arrest after wooden pallet smashes train windscreen

Four people have been arrested after a train had its windscreen smashed by a wooden pallet in County Durham.

The CrossCountry service suffered significant damage during the incident in Ferryhill.

British Transport Police said the driver had a "remarkable" escape when the pallet was thrown from a bridge on 25 August.

The four males aged between 14 and 21 were held on suspicion of trespass and endangering safety and later bailed.
