A man has been jailed for four years for killing a father-of-two by knocking him to the ground with one punch outside a Middlesbrough pub.

Spencer Freeman, 42, was assaulted outside the Grenadier pub in April and later died of a head injury.

Aaron Hayes, 20, of Topcliffe Road, Thornaby, had denied manslaughter but was found guilty.

Teesside Crown Court heard that he was under the influence of drink and drugs at the time of the attack.

At the time of his death, Mr Freeman's wife Michele said he was a devoted husband and father to their children Lewis, 15, and Niamh, 10, and would always be in their hearts.
