Stockton Enterprise Arcade launches business success

A scheme to help budding entrepreneurs in a Teesside town has been hailed as a success.

The Stockton Enterprise Arcade opened its doors in February to give new retailers a chance to test their ideas in a low-cost, low-risk environment.

Of its initial five companies, three now have permanent premises in the town centre and the other two are setting up outlets elsewhere.

The arcade is now inviting new businesses for a six-month project.

As well as the space in the shop, successful applicants will also receive marketing advice and training.

Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton Council's cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: "The Enterprise Arcade is a fantastic initiative for people who are trying to start-up in business.

"It's also helping us to work towards our vision of creating a unique and appealing retail offer in Stockton town centre by attracting more independent retailers."
