A 46-year-old man has died after driving into parked cars and hitting a tree in Middlesbrough.

Mohammed Latif, from the area, suffered serious head injuries when his Vauxhall Vectra crashed on Park Vale Road at about 02:20 GMT.

He was taken to James Cook University Hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

His family described the father-of-three as having "a heart of gold".

In a statement, they said: "Mohammed, known as Latty, was a hard-working man. He had a heart of gold and would help everyone he could, giving them great support.

"Latty was a caring, devoted father to his three children and a rock to his wife, Tarzeem.

"He was well-liked and loved by all who knew him, and will be sadly missed."

Cleveland Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them.
