Power cut at more than 400 houses in Billingham

More than 400 properties were without power in Billingham, Teesside, for 12 hours.

Energy company CE Electric said it was reported at 0417 GMT Sunday. A spokeswoman said there had been a problem with one of their generators.

The area has experienced freezing conditions over the past few days and temperatures were not expected to rise much higher than 4C on Sunday.

Most residents had power by 1620 GMT Sunday.

Those remaining residents without power were expected to be reconnected soon afterwards.
