Groups ban tackles youth disorder on Teesside

Police have brought in a ban on youth gatherings in parts of Teesside plagued by anti-social behaviour.

Cleveland Police said the dispersal order in Eston, Normanby and Ormesby was a direct response to mounting complaints from residents.

Under the order, officers have powers to issue groups of two or more offenders with a warning to leave an area for 24 hours.

A force spokeswoman said the order will stay in place until 7 November.

Insp Guy Hall of Cleveland Police added: "Residents have spoken to officers expressing their concern over the amount of criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.

"The dispersal order is being put into place to address those concerns and we hope it will help combat the long-term complaints that we have received."
