Tributes to Teesside lamppost crash driver
The family of a man who died when his car hit a lamppost have paid tribute to a "loving, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather".
Dennis King, 79, from Hartlepool, died at Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital on Tuesday.
His Vauxhall Vectra had left the road in Seaton Carew on Monday. Two child passengers, aged eight and 12, suffered minor injuries.
His family also thanked two men at the scene who helped him and the children.
A statement from his family said: "Dennis was a loving, caring husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather who was always willing to help family and friends.
"He had spent a nice day with his two grandchildren, which ended in a tragic accident.
"We would like to say thank you to all the emergency staff at the scene and at James Cook and North Tees hospitals, and a special thanks to the two men that assisted at the scene looking after the children and Dennis."
