A man who spat at three police officers while claiming to have coronavirus has been jailed.

Peter Davy, 65, pleaded guilty to three counts of assaulting emergency workers in Brighton on Saturday.

He also admitted using threatening or abusive words with intent to cause fear of violence and alarm or distress.

Davy, of Albion Street, Brighton, was jailed for 12 weeks and ordered to pay £50 compensation to each officer at the city's magistrates' court.
