A police officer who sent a pornographic image to a female colleague has been sacked.

Sussex PC Mark Scruby sent the X-rated image to Det Sgt Isobel Lee, saying in his message that she looked like the woman pictured.

Mr Scruby, 38, also showed it to other colleagues, again insisting on the resemblance between the two.

The officer, who admitted his actions were a breach of force standards, was dismissed without notice.

'Targeted actions'

While on duty, Mr Scruby also viewed and sent round a pornographic video from which the image had been taken, his force said.

A Sussex officer for 14 years, he was dismissed for gross misconduct last year but re-joined the force following a police appeals tribunal.

But the tribunal gave the force permission to hold a second hearing for the same allegations.

Scruby accepted the factual allegations and admitted the matters amounted to a breach of standards of authority, respect and courtesy.

Professional Standards Department supervisor Martin Sapwell said: "PC Scruby's series of actions were considered, targeted and not simply a one-off moment of thoughtlessness.

"Each incident compounded the previous and brought distress to the colleague who he targeted."
