Man, 71, jailed over Fittleworth shooting

A 71-year-old man has been jailed for shooting another man in the leg.

Brian Acott, 71, of Fairmead Close in Fittleworth, Sussex, was jailed for five years at Chichester Crown Court.

He had admitted causing grievous bodily harm and possessing a firearm at a hearing in April. A charge of possessing a firearm when prohibited for life is to remain on file.

The 61-year-old man was shot in Fairmead Close on 31 October 2015, Sussex Police said.
