A 41-year-old man from France has been found not guilty of possessing an air rifle and a knife after a security alert at Gatwick Airport.

Jerome Chauris, of Vendome, was cleared at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday.

The security alert last November caused major disruption and closed the North Terminal for six hours.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers carried out a small controlled explosion as airport passengers and staff were taken to local hotels.
