Four people have been arrested after a head-on crash in East Sussex left a driver with serious injuries.

Two vehicles collided just after 22:30 BST on Saturday near the Lamb Pub on the A259 at Hooe, police said.

A driver was trapped for two hours before he was cut free and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The occupants of the other car fled, leading to a police dog and helicopter search of open land nearby.

The road was closed for several hours while forensic evidence was recovered from the scene, Sussex Police added.
