Pensioner dies after car hits tree in Southwater

A man has died after his car crashed into a tree near Southwater.

The 77-year-old from Worthing was driving a blue Citroen on the A24 when it left the road near Pollards Hill roundabout at 08:00 BST on Friday.

The car crashed into a tree and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He died shortly afterwards.

Sussex Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash or noticed the car being driven beforehand to contact officers.
