Developers are to modify an £80m plan to regenerate a West Sussex seafront with new shops, restaurants, a hotel, theatre and 200 apartments.

Last week Arun District Council rejected the Sir Richard Hotham scheme for three sites in Bognor Regis.

It cited concerns about traffic impact, the mix of affordable housing and design.

The developers have confirmed to the BBC they intend to submit a revised application to address those issues.

Last week the Conservative-led council said in a statement it remained committed to creating new jobs in Bognor and increasing visitor numbers.

Lib Dem councillor Francis Oppler said the redevelopment had not moved forward in 10 years.

"We have no plan, no developer and we have had 10 years of wasted opportunities," he said.
