Crowborough boy, 17, in murder arrest after man found dead in Mayfield

A boy aged 17 has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead at his home in East Sussex.

Officers called to a house in Coggins Mill Lane on Thursday found the 52-year-old man dead. Police are still trying to trace his next of kin.

A post-mortem examination showed the man - who has not been named - died from multiple injuries.

The 17-year-old from Crowborough was arrested on Saturday and remains in custody.

He is believed to be known to the victim.

A 17-year-old girl from Eastbourne has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and is also in custody.

Det Ch Insp Tanya Jones said: "This has been a fast-moving investigation and we are still making inquiries.

"We want to do all we can to reassure the local community and there are officers in the area to speak to residents about their concerns."
