Hailsham hit-and-run crash leaves woman seriously hurt

A woman is being treated for serious injuries after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash in Hailsham, East Sussex.

The pedestrian, believed to be aged in her 60s, was hit by a car, which failed to stop, at about 06:40 GMT.

A blue Ford is suspected to have been involved in the crash on South Road, Sussex Police said.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance attended and the woman was taken to hospital.

The road has been closed as forensic investigations take place at the scene.

Anyone who saw the collision, or saw the car in the area immediately before or after the crash is urged to contact police.
