Driver arrested over Eastbourne cyclist death

A cyclist has died after being hit by a car in Eastbourne, Sussex Police said.

The 66-year-old man was hit by a black BMW in Victoria Drive at 14:55 GMT on Tuesday and died at the scene.

Any witnesses who saw the man wearing a cloth cap and riding a mountain bike with a basket on the front are asked to contact Sussex Police.

A 47-year-old man from Eastbourne was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

He was released on bail until 23 March.
