Work on a new cemetery in West Sussex is due to begin next year after planning permission was granted.

The Little Trees Cemetery in Crawley will provide enough burial space for up to 50 years, replacing Snell Hatch in West Green, which has very few spaces.

It took Crawley Borough Council eight years to find a suitable piece of land.

The 12-acre site, beside the A264 Crawley bypass, is currently used as a girl guiding campsite, which will move to a new base in Tilgate Forest.

The cemetery is due to open in 2017.
