De La Warr Pavilion undergoes £500,000 work on building

Work to replace an air handling system at an arts centre will begin in January.

The De La Warr Pavilion, in Bexhill, was awarded £412,000 by Arts Council England.

Private donations, including from the centre's patron Eddie Izzard, and funds designated by Rother District Council, have brought the total up to £500,000.

Director Stewart Drew said the seaside climate had "taken its toll" on the building.

The work will start on Monday and is expected to be completed by the end of February.
