Five-year-old girl hit by car in Eastbourne 'critical'

A five-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car in East Sussex.

The girl suffered "life-threatening injuries" in Friday Street, Eastbourne, at about 15:15 GMT on Tuesday.

She was airlifted to St Georges Hospital in Tooting, south London, after being struck by the Ford Fusion near the junction of Shinewater Lane.

Sussex Police said the 64-year-old female driver was not injured in the incident.
