West Sussex budget 'to include £30m road spend'

About £30m could be spent on resurfacing unclassified roads across West Sussex over the next two years, the county council has said.

Last month, the council said it was considering making the investment to reduce further maintenance costs and prevent further deterioration of roads.

The figure will be included in the county's budget when it is considered in February, the authority said.

About 22% of unclassified roads in the county needed repairs, it added.

It said unclassified roads, which included residential and rural routes, made up 55% of the county's entire road network.
