Man found dead at Seven Sisters Country Park named by police

An elderly man whose body was found at an East Sussex beauty spot has been named by police.

John Gilbert, 76, from The Waldrons in Croydon, south London, was found on a path in Seven Sisters Country Park in the early hours on Friday.

A 78-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering him. Police said the couple were believed to have been staying in Brighton.

The woman has been bailed until 10 October.

Officers are waiting for test results to establish the cause of Mr Gilbert's death.
