Two teenage boys and a man have been arrested after a fight on a night bus and the stabbing of three people.

Police called to Church Street by the Pavilion Gardens in Brighton found a 24-year-old man on the pavement next to the bus with a stab wound to his wrist.

He was held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm along with two boys, aged 13 and 14, who were running away. The older boy had been stabbed in the leg.

Police are still looking for another boy, 14, also stabbed in the leg.

'Students on bus'

The emergency services were called to the scene at about 05:45 GMT.

Officers said the incident involved the N25 bus, although it is not known if all the stabbings happened on it.

Det Insp Lee Horner, of Brighton and Hove CID, said: "This was a shocking incident on a bus full of students on their way back to Brighton University after a night out in the city.

"Several arrests have been made and we are currently trying to establish the exact circumstances that led up to the fight on the bus."

The area at the bottom of Church Street was cordoned off for several hours while forensic examinations were carried out.
