Woman in black steals blind Hastings man's pension cash

An 83-year-old man who is almost blind was conned out of his pension money by a woman who befriended him as he left a Hastings post office with his cash.

The woman started chatting to him as he collected his money and led him along Cambridge Road towards the town centre.

But as she tried to leave him behind, the man realised his wallet was missing, and although he snatched it back, he discovered £170 had gone.

Police want to hear from witnesses to the theft, at 10:50 GMT last Thursday.

Det Con Robin Mitchell-Davis, of Sussex CID, said: "This was a really nasty theft, which has left the victim very distressed."

The thief was white, about 25, 5ft 5in tall and dressed all in black, carrying a white bag over a black puffa jacket.
