A 14-year-old boy has been cleared of killing an East Sussex teenager who died in hospital the day after he was attacked in the street.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had denied a charge of manslaughter at Hove Crown Court, where jurors found him not guilty.

He had been accused of punching Connor Saunders, of Downsway, Woodingdean, Brighton, during a fight on 14 April.

Mr Saunders died from head injuries the day after the incident in Rottingdean.

The 19-year-old who played for Peacehaven and Telscombe Football Club, died at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
