Two teenagers who were arrested after an attack in Brighton that left a man in a critical condition have been released on bail.

A 36-year-old local man suffered serious head injuries in St James's Street between 23:30 BST on Thursday and 00:30 BST on Friday.

He is being treated at Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre, Haywards Heath.

The suspects, aged 18 and 17, were held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily and later bailed until 8 January.

Sussex Police believe the man's attackers fled the scene in St James's Street, Brighton, on a motorbike.
