Hailsham street light changes plan

A consultation will take place over plans to reduce street lighting in Hailsham, East Sussex.

East Sussex County Council has set out to cut its electricity bill and also reduce carbon emissions. It has carried out similar schemes in Seaford, Uckfield and Lewes.

The council said each town or village had different needs and plans were being tailored to each area.

A consultation event will be held in Hailsham next Friday.

People will also be able to give their views on the council's website.

Changes include turning off certain lights, reducing lights in some residential streets and dimming lights on main roads between midnight and the early hours.
