Man and two women hurt in Worthing flat blaze

A man had to be taken to hospital and two women were treated at the scene of a flat fire in West Sussex.

About 20 firefighters were called to the blaze at the three-storey building in Rowlands Road, Worthing, at about 23:50 BST on Sunday.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued two women, a man and also a dog following a search of the building.

The man was taken to hospital after breathing in smoke while the women were treated by paramedics.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the blaze was not yet known and an investigation would be carried out later.
