John Ryan's original Pugwash drawings go on show in Rye

The daughter of Captain Pugwash creator John Ryan has put together an exhibition in Sussex charting her father's career.

The retrospective, which is on display in Rye where Mr Ryan lived, shows the mechanics of bringing the cartoon characters to life.

Isabel Ryan said her father "made this decision to work out his own method of making figures move".

The artist, who died in 2009, also designed Mary Mungo and Midge and the Adventures of Captain Prancelot.
