Sussex Police hunt for missing prisoner Andrew Akuffo

A 44-year-old man who police have warned could become violent has absconded from a prison in West Sussex.

Andrew Akuffo, who is serving a life sentence for offences involving drugs and firearms, absconded from Ford Open Prison on 28 October.

Sussex Police said he also uses the surname Beckley and was last seen by prison staff that morning.

He is described as black, 5ft 5in tall, of medium build, with a mole on his left cheek and chipped front teeth.

Officers said he also had some facial hair.

Det Supt Russ Burgess said Akuffo had links to Tulse Hill in south London.

He said he had been in prison for nine years and had a history of violence.
