Case against Brighton May Day protest man is dropped

The case against a man charged with assaulting a police officer during a May Day protest in Brighton has been dropped.

Jorge Lagar, 25, of Over Street, Brighton, was arrested after taking part in an anti-capitalist protest.

However, the Crown Prosecution Service has dropped the case due to insufficient evidence.

Sussex Police said about 200 officers were deployed to the protest, including mounted officers.
