Worthing man sought over Hassocks suspected hit-and-run

A man from Worthing is being sought by Sussex Police after a suspected hit-and-run crash in which a man died.

Police said they would like to speak to Imran Shaukat, 26, about the collision on the A273 London Road in Hassocks at about 04:30 BST on Saturday.

The victim, who police believe to be Kalan Fletcher, from Keymer, was found dead in the road by emergency services.

Mr Shaukat is believed to have connections to Luton, Barking and Manchester.

A white Ford Transit van, believed to have been involved in the crash, was found in Worthing on Sunday.

Police found debris from the accident at the scene of the collision.

Insp Steve Grace said: "Mr Shaukat was last known to be living in Brougham Road, Worthing. I would appeal for him to contact police as soon as possible."

Formal identification of Mr Fletcher, aged 23, of Keymer Road, is yet to take place.
