Man held after woman found dead at Woodingdean house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 46-year-old woman was found dead at a house in East Sussex.

Police were alerted by paramedics who were called to Rosebery Avenue, Woodingdean, at 0700 GMT.

A 46-year-old local man was arrested at the house and is in police custody for questioning.

Detectives said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and a forensic examination of the house was taking place.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on Sunday.

Det Ch Insp Nick May, of Sussex Police, urged anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Rosebery Avenue area of Woodingdean in the past 24 hours to contact police.
