Passenger dies during Brighton tree crash

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a fatal crash in Brighton.

Sussex Police said a car with four people inside crashed into a tree at 0645 GMT in Grand Parade. A 28-year-old man died at the scene of the crash.

A force spokesman said the driver of the car, a 40-year-old local man, is being questioned in custody.

The one-way system in Brighton remains closed while police carry out an investigation.

Two other passengers, aged 24 and 28, were also taken to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
