Man injured as car crashes into fence on A27 at Lewes

A 37-year-old man is being treated in hospital for injuries received when his car crashed through a wooden fence after it left the road in East Sussex.

The accident happened at Ranscombe Hill on the A27 at Lewes at about 0530 GMT.

Emergency services attending the scene found parts of the fence had gone through the car door and into his body.

The man was cut free from the wreckage by the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service before being taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton.
