A council worker has braved freezing temperatures to raise money for an East Sussex charity with a swim in the English Channel.

Hastings Borough Council jobs co-ordinator Dave Hinton stripped off on a snow-covered Hastings Beach on Wednesday and raised over £245.

Staff at the council offices collected the cash within three hours.

It will go to the Seaview Project, which helps homeless people and those with mental health problems.

"I thought this would be a great opportunity to raise money for such a worthwhile cause," said Mr Hinton.
