A woman and her two dogs have escaped a fire in East Sussex which is believed to have been started deliberately.

Emergency services were called to London Road, St Leonards, just before 2230 BST on Thursday after the fire started at the front door of her home.

Firefighters arrived to find the woman, who was unhurt, in the back garden.

Sussex Police have appealed for witnesses to the suspected arson and are working with East Sussex Fire and Rescue to establish its cause.
