Thieves steal silverware from Sussex church

Thieves have stolen silverware valued at more than £25,000 from a rural church in Woodmansgreen, West Sussex.

The haul includes 22 items including plates, dishes and goblets that were contained in a safe in a room inside St Luke's Church in Linch Road.

Sussex Police said it was discovered missing when the warden went to get the silverware out for the Sunday service.

Officers have appealed for information on the theft, which happened at some point between 22 and 27 August.
