A man has appeared in court over the murder of a couple who were found stabbed in their home in Surrey.

The bodies of Patrick and Gillian Kettyle, both in their 50s, were discovered in the village of Fetcham, early on Thursday morning.

Lithuanian Viktoras Bruzas, 38, appeared at South East Surrey Magistrates' Court in Redhill on two counts of murder.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday.

Mr Bruzas, a builder from Walton-on-Thames, was arrested in nearby Oxshott and charged late on Friday.

The Kettyles were found dead at their home shortly after midnight on Thursday by a member of their family.

A man in his 30s who was arrested at a property in Walton-on-Thames on the same day was released with no further action taken against him, police said.
