Camberley handbag snatchers seen off by dog

Two would-be muggers who attempted to rip a woman's handbag from her shoulder in Surrey fled empty handed after they were bitten by her dog.

Police said the woman in her 30s was approached by two youths in Victoria Avenue, Camberley on Monday evening.

They tried to grab her bag but ran off in the direction of Vale Road after the dog bit them both.

The woman was taken to Frimley Park Hospital, where she was treated for head and shoulder injuries.

Det Con Andy Skoglund said it was possible the would-be thieves had dog bite injuries and appealed for anyone who had information to come forward.

"The two offenders targeted a woman walking alone after dark and this ordeal was extremely frightening for her," he said.

Both youths were about 5ft 4in tall. One wore a blue hooded top and had a mountain bike, while the other was wearing a red hooded top.
