A Grade II listed mansion used as a library and a wedding venue has been severely damaged by a fire.

The blaze at Ewell Court House, in Ewell, started in the roof of the two-storey building in the early hours.

No-one was hurt but residents in a flat at the site had to be led to safety.

Surrey Fire and Rescue said crews managed to contain the damage to one side of the mansion and the library had been unaffected. The cause is under investigation.
