Four hurt in Whyteleafe rail line car crash

Four men have been hurt, one seriously, after a car they were travelling in left the road and crashed on to a railway line, landing on its roof.

The Vauxhall Astra was travelling southbound on the A22 Godstone Road, in Whyteleafe, Surrey, when the driver lost control at about 04:40 GMT.

It came to a stop on the railway line close to Whyteleafe South station. No other vehicles were involved.

The four occupants, aged between 17 and 30, were taken to hospital.

Southern Rail services between Caterham and Victoria were disrupted throughout the morning as a result of the accident.
